Sunshine and Showers

Sunshine and showers are both physical and metaphorical. Yesterday it had rained quite hard overnight and we had showers in the morning too. Jean had invited Catherine and myself for a walk and lunch out to celebrate her birthday. In the end we met at her house for coffee as the projected walk would have been too wet. But we did do a Shorter, drier walk up Orrest Head. We were lucky. The sky turned blue and the sun shone as we reached the top and gazed over the lake. The Rowans were picturesque with their jewel like berries. We walked back through woodland, with Coloured leaves underfoot.
Lunch was at the Langdale Chase with its wonderful view over by now the sparkling water. A delicious salad Nicoise with perfectly boiled eggs and peppery seared tuna. We had a brief wander through the gardens afterwards marvelling at tree trunks.....the smooth bands of the cherry and the rough trunks of pines.
It was really a lovely day.

I discovered when I got home that my brother in law has had a night in hospital with Covid complications. And Holly is poorly and needing to take another PCR. Surely she can't have it for a third time. Fyfe's class has been sent home because 40% of them have Covid. Ellie is still waiting for Ida's test to come back. We hope it has been positive in a way as otherwise she has missed a lot of school for nothing. And so it goes on.

Today has seemed like life as I used to know it, with a meeting at church in the morning about starting up a soup and cake cafe. Housegroup happened this afternoon, and we discussed climate change a lot. This evening I am going to choir for the first time, though apparently the choirmaster has called in sick. Our chairman rang me this afternoon to explain that as they had not known if I was back, our choir secretary will take the rehearsal tonight. Geoff had asked them to get in touch with me! Let's hope it won't be a long term problem or I. An see myself back in conductor mode. That will be very odd. We'll just have to see......
